Try This!

Spend some time in meditation and prayer on the following thoughts. See if this will change your outlook on life. It is my prayer that you will find that Jesus is more than enough for the daily challenges, and also the crises of life.

1. Know who your God is and turn to Him, first!

Turn to the Lord at the beginning of your day, and whenever you face a difficulty. Do not attempt to solve any problem with a human solution.

Spend time in prayer, on your knees, if possible, and with your Bible. Take time to contemplate God’s awesome power, His unlimited resources. Remember, He is love. He knows the future. Everything about Him is good. He is the Creator and sustainer of the universe. He is holy. He is the source of all blessing and He loves you more than His own life. Bathe yourself in the Scriptural promises of His faithfulness. Remember that God’s word is sure. Compile a list of the powerful promises. Here are some of the many to recall:

Remember, "The heart of God yearns over His children with a love stronger than death. Steps to Christ, p. 21.

"The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full as though there were not another soul upon the earth to share His watchcare." Steps to Christ, p. 100

"Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. Those who accept the one principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet." The Desire of Ages, p. 330

2. Nothing Between.

When you are convinced that He is able, you must make sure that nothing stands between you and your wonderful God-- you must make sure that your connection is tight! Sin separates us from Him and that is why He hates it so much! (Isaiah 59:2)

Examine every area of your life (behaviors and attitudes) and ask God to search you. Confess and forsake every sin of which you are aware. 1 John 1:9 states: "If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Make restitution where possible. We cannot afford to let even something as thin as a sheet of paper remain between us and God. He is our refuge! He is our solution!

1 Cor. 10:31 reads: "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." Examine your lifestyle. Day by day while praying and studying the Scriptures, ask God to reveal any and all areas of your life that do not glorify and honor Him. By His grace and power, seek to glorify Him in all you do.

Remember, we cannot change ourselves, but we must be willing for God to change us however He sees best. We must cooperate with Him. This is the only way to find joy and peace of mind.

3. Total Surrender and Willingness to Obey

Give God total freedom to do whatever He wishes with your life.

Stay before God until you are able to do the following:

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ, our Example, prayed, "...not My will, but Thine, be done."

4. Choose an Attitude of Trust, and
Reject all Negative Thoughts

Choose to have an attitude of praise and confidence.

When the dark thoughts (anger, depression, worry, condemnation of others, stress, etc.) come, Reject them in the name of the Lord! Say aloud (if you are able), "I reject those thoughts!"

Quote the Bible promises aloud.

When you trust, you are expecting that God will do what is best.
