Spend some time in meditation and prayer on the following thoughts.
See if this will change your outlook on life.
It is my prayer that you will find that Jesus is more than enough for the daily challenges,
and also the crises of life.
1. Know who your God is and turn to Him, first!
Turn to the Lord at the beginning of your day, and whenever you face a difficulty.
Do not attempt to solve any problem with a human solution.
Spend time in prayer, on your knees, if possible, and with your Bible.
Take time to contemplate God’s awesome power, His unlimited resources.
Remember, He is love. He knows the future. Everything about Him is good.
He is the Creator and sustainer of the universe. He is holy.
He is the source of all blessing and He loves you more than His own life.
Bathe yourself in the Scriptural promises of His faithfulness.
Remember that God’s word is sure. Compile a list of the powerful promises.
Here are some of the many to recall:
- And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
- I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8
- For in Him we live and move and have our being. Acts 17:28
- Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us... Ephesians 3:20
- His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3
- Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1
- The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” Jeremiah 31:3
- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
- For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. Psalm 50:10
- And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
- I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. 2 Timothy 1:12
- Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25
- Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
Remember, "The heart of God yearns over His children with a love stronger than death. Steps to Christ, p. 21.
"The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full
as though there were not another soul upon the earth to share His watchcare." Steps to Christ, p. 100
"Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing.
Those who accept the one principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish,
and a plain path before their feet." The Desire of Ages, p. 330
2. Nothing Between.
When you are convinced that He is able,
you must make sure that nothing stands between you and your wonderful God--
you must make sure that your connection is tight! Sin separates us from Him and
that is why He hates it so much! (Isaiah 59:2)
Examine every area of your life (behaviors and attitudes) and ask God to search you.
Confess and forsake every sin of which you are aware. 1 John 1:9 states:
"If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Make restitution where possible.
We cannot afford to let even something as thin as a sheet of paper remain between us and God.
He is our refuge! He is our solution!
1 Cor. 10:31 reads: "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
Examine your lifestyle. Day by day while praying and studying the Scriptures,
ask God to reveal any and all areas of your life that do not glorify and honor Him.
By His grace and power, seek to glorify Him in all you do.
Remember, we cannot change ourselves, but we must be willing for God to change us however He sees best.
We must cooperate with Him. This is the only way to find joy and peace of mind.
3. Total Surrender and Willingness to Obey
Give God total freedom to do whatever He wishes with your life.
Stay before God until you are able to do the following:
- A. Exclaim with Isaiah--
"Here am I, send me." Isaiah 6:8
- B. Pray with Paul--
"Lord, what do you want me to do?" Acts 9:6
- C. Sing (or say) all the words of the hymn by Mary Brown, "I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go"
- It may not be on the mountain’s height, or over the stormy sea;
It may not be at the battle’s front my Lord will have need of me;
But if by a still, small voice He calls to paths I do not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in Yours,
I’ll go where You want me to go.
- Perhaps today there are loving words which Jesus would have me speak;
There may be now, in the paths of sin, some wand’rer whom I should seek.
O Savior, if You will be my Guide, though dark and rugged the way,
My voice shall echo the message sweet,
I’ll say what You want me to say.
- There’s surely somewhere a lowly place in earth’s harvest fields so wide,
Where I may labor through life’s short day for Jesus, the Crucified.
So, trusting my all unto Your care, I know You always love me!
I’ll do Your will with a heart sincere,
I’ll be what You want me to be.
Refrain
- I’ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord,
O’er mountain, or plain, or sea;
I’ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord,
I’ll be what You want me to be.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ, our Example, prayed, "...not My will, but Thine, be done."
4. Choose an Attitude of Trust, and
Reject all Negative Thoughts
Choose to have an attitude of praise and confidence.
When the dark thoughts (anger, depression, worry, condemnation of others, stress, etc.) come,
Reject them in the name of the Lord!
Say aloud (if you are able), "I reject those thoughts!"
Quote the Bible promises aloud.
When you trust, you are expecting that God will do what is best.
